Disneyland first opened in July 17th, 1955. Many magical memories have been made since this opening day. After 7 decades have past, the Disneyland park is still creating magic for those who visit. The magic is only getting better this year! Since it is Disneyland's 70th Anniversary, the park is having a special celebration that starts May 16th, 2025.
This celebration will include many new updates and additions. These are detailed below:
Paint The Night Parade
This nighttime parade will be returning to Disneyland! With more than one million electric lights, this parade will light up the night sky and light up everyone's eyes with enjoyment and magic. With characters such as Anna, Elsa, Ariel, Buzz Lightyear, and Woody, Disney brings music, dancing, and special effects to the nighttime floats.
Wonderous Journeys
This breathtaking nighttime spectacular is a tribute to the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios, celebrating over 100 years of storytelling that has inspired generations. As part of the Disneyland Resort's 70th Anniversary Celebration, the park transforms into a living canvas, showcasing iconic moments from Disney films like Frozen, Encanto, Moana, Peter Pan, and Big Hero 6. Guests can watch in awe as images of beloved characters and worlds are projected onto landmarks like Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street U.S.A., the Rivers of America, and the it’s a small world façade. With state-of-the-art projection technology, soaring music, and pyrotechnics—complete with fireworks on select nights—Wondrous Journeys offers an unforgettable experience that brings Disney’s rich animation history to life.
Tapestry of Happiness
The it’s a small world façade will undergo a stunning transformation into an animated mosaic, inspired by the legendary Disney artist Mary Blair. This vibrant display brings 70 years of Disneyland memories to life, showcasing beloved attractions and iconic moments in dazzling projections. Paired with Tapestry of Happiness, an original theme song, and refreshed versions of classic Disneyland tunes, the experience takes guests on a magical journey through the heart of the park, capturing the joy and wonder that make Disneyland the Happiest Place on Earth.
The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade
Join Mickey and his friends in a 7 decade celebration. As they travel through the Disneyland streets, sing and dance along in this celebration of Happiness.
Small World Additions
It's a small world will be inviting two new members to their Mexico scene. Miguel and Dante are being added to the ride during this celebration!
Disneyland is not the only park celebrating though! Disney's California Adventure will be joining in the fun, these updates and additions can be seen below:
World of Color Happiness!
This new nighttime spectacular will be coming to Disney's California Adventure and will be based off of Walt Disney's words from opening day, "To all who come to this happy place… welcome!" This nighttime show will be hosted by Joy and friends from the Inside Out movie and will include a brilliant array of signature fountains, dynamic lighting, colorful lasers, fog and dramatic flame effects.
Just before World of Color Happiness! begins, the stage is set for a fun, unexpected twist. Kermit the Frog, Gonzo, and the rest of the Muppets take the spotlight, delivering important safety announcements in their signature zany style. This lively, song-and-dance number is projected across the vibrant World of Color fountains, adding a playful and whimsical touch to the start of the show. It’s the perfect way to kick off an unforgettable experience filled with music, color, and Muppet magic!
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!
This daytime parade will include singing, dancing, and magical floats. The parade will also include Pixar characters from a large array of movies! This vibrant procession brings the magic of Pixar to life, delighting guests with a burst of energy and fun as it graces the park once again.
Toy Story Midway Mania Addition
With the 70th celebration occurring California Adventure's Toy Story Midway Mania will now include targets that include the happy number 70 for the 70th anniversary of Disneyland.
